A new social network is coming to arrive. It’s super fun, super addictive and yet there is nothing above that is real. It is Pika who has just launched its application a 100% AI-powered social network.
The principle is simple. Using a selfie, you will be able to create AI videos with different styles and effects, and with lip-sync to your favorite music or even the dialogues from your cult films.
That is to say that we cannot really do everything bet on our physique, especially you. So if I may be so bold as to give advice, forget that you have no chance, go for it.
I’ll show you in detail how it works.
What is Pika Social App?
Pika Social App is an AI-based social networking app that allows you to turn your selfie into a creative short video.

By combining AI-generated effects, customizable styles, and lip sync technology, the app gives anyone the ability to create engaging and shareable content.
It blends the familiar structure of social networks with AI tools for styling, backgrounds, and sound synchronization.

Downloading the App (iOS)
In the App Store, type Pika Social Video and you should easily find the application.
For now, this one is only available on the Apple App Store, but it will soon also be available on Android.

I advise you to already download the application and join the waiting list to be part of the first to be able to use it. You can try this Pika invite Code: 96PPA57M

First Look at the Feed
By opening the application, we come across the feed with the creations of the users. And we can directly remix the creation of another user by selecting Make video like this.
Then you just have to take your own photo, select AI Enhance, add a caption before publishing, and you’re done.

This is the easiest way to create in the Pika Social application.
Creating From Scratch
Another example — but this time we will start from scratch.
We select at the bottom the plus icon. Then we take a new selfie.

Select the face icon to the right and there we will be able to transform our photo.

At the bottom of the screen, there are plenty of customization options.
Customizing Backgrounds, Hair, and Outfits
We start with the background. For example, the background on fire, or in the desert, or on a midnight basketball court. Plenty of options are available.
We can also change our haircut. For example, I’ll start with this one.

The same goes for hair color and outfit with plenty of choices. And there are also accessories.
We also have the option of full sets, meaning background and outfit together. For example, here on a construction site or even in frozen mode.
Choosing Styles
Finally, we can also modify the style. There is animated style, 90s drawing, pixel art. Here too, there’s enough to have fun.

I’m going to go with the animated style.
All these options allow you to work easily on your look from your selfie.
Refining With Prompts
You can also use the prompt bar to refine a style.
For example, I’ll ask it to put my shirt in pink. I write the prompt in English for better understanding.
So now, my shirt is pink.
Using Prompts for Customization
Beyond manual changes, you can fine-tune with the prompt bar.
Example: “Make my shirt pink”, typed in English for better accuracy.
Prompts allow:
- Adding or changing clothing colors
- Adding props (like sunglasses)
- Adjusting small style details
Once the look is ready, tap Done.
Adding the Sound
- Choose from the built-in sound library (30-second clips).
- Generate dialogues using AI.
- Import your own sound or music file.

For our first video:
- Select a sound from the library.
- Tap Done.
- Add a caption.
- Publish.

Working With Edited Photos
The principle of the application is simply to work from a photo.
We use the different elements to modify it, but we can also go further by using the prompt bar.

We can start from a modified photo, add elements from the available effects, or use a new prompt.
For example, I might add sunglasses or change the color of the outfit.
Once I’m happy with the style, I just choose my sound and the lip sync will be done automatically.
Reusing and Editing Existing Photos
The app allows you to:
- Reopen a previous project.
- Add new effects.
- Use a fresh prompt to modify further.
Example: Start with a modified photo, then add sunglasses and change costume color.
Once satisfied, add a sound — the app will lip sync automatically.
Uploading Custom Sounds
You can upload any sound up to 30 seconds.
Right now, I’m in the beta version, so we’ll see if it stays the same later.
It’s very useful if you want to use your own sounds in your creations or even dialogues from your favorite movies.
I tested with a famous movie line.
Steps to Follow:
- Create your style first.
- Tap Add Sound → Import Sound.
- Upload from your device.
- Adjust timing.
- Validate and publish.

This is ideal for:
- Using your own music
- Adding famous movie dialogues
- Personal voice clips
Example – Adding a Movie Dialogue
I first create my style and prepare my photo.
Then I select Add Sound → Import Sound.
From my phone, I import the excerpt up to 30 seconds.
I can adjust the timing of the excerpt to match what I want, then I just validate.
Add a caption and publish.
Bernard, I think you and I have the same problem — we can’t really bet everything on our looks, especially you. So if I may give you advice, forget that you have no chance, go for it. You never know, it might work.
Publishing and Sharing
Each of my creations will be published on my Pika profile, but I can also share them elsewhere on other social networks or download them to use anywhere I want.
We’ve seen that we can use music, movie excerpts, but we can also record our own text.
Using Full Sets and AI Speech
For this example, I will use a full set.
Select Add Sound → AI Speech.
Here, several choices are available. I can clone my voice to use it for text-to-speech.
Cloning Your Voice
I select Clone Voice.
I record more than 10 seconds of my voice as indicated.
I speak for 10 seconds so the AI can understand and record my voice to train a model.

Once that’s done, I type my text and select my cloned voice.
The result is perfect lip sync.
Trying Other Voices
I don’t have to use my own voice.
For example, I select the voice of another avatar.
There are plenty of voice avatars available for your creations, which can make very original results.
Recording in Real-Time
Finally, I can also record my text in real time by selecting the Record option.
If I wish, I can record my voice directly and the lip sync will be done automatically.
The result is excellent.
Thoughts on the Concept
A social network built around AI — can it work?
It’s a bold bet for Pika, who already has an AI video generator.
Personally, I think the idea is great.
Working on AI video generation within a classic application can be monotonous and sometimes uninspiring.
Also, there is an audience not familiar with AI generation apps.
Introducing them to AI by reusing the mechanics of a social network is a smart move.
Social Features
The app is simple and intuitive.
It has all the classic social network features — a feed, other people’s videos, likes, comments.
You can also remix with just one click.
Pika Social works like any other social app:
- A feed of videos
- Likes and comments
- Ability to remix content
Great for Creators
Being able to upload your own sounds and stage them with AI tools in different styles and with great lip sync is a great opportunity for artists who don’t always have the means for big productions.
Pika managed to create a hybrid between an AI video generator and a social network.
I’m sure a real community will grow around the app.
My Opinion
A social network around AI is a bold move for Pika, which already had an AI video generator.
Personally, I think the idea is excellent — it removes the intimidation factor from AI tools by putting them in a social format people already know.
It’s simple, intuitive, and fun with the potential to grow into a strong creative community.
